check out the yokohama parada spec 2's, kumho mxs or yokohama EVS- i think thats the name but they are all under 100 each, check tire rack for reviews. i personally have the spec 2's on the way right now! BTW these are only tires you should use during warm weather, not all season of coarse.
That's exactly where I was going...all the tires people have recommended are not for use in the snow.
If you need a good 4-season performance tire, check out the Continental ContiExtremeContact. About $76/tire. I've been using them for about 9 months (including a Chicago winter) and I love them.
I only use my wheels in the summer so I don't need an all-season tire. Since you are all giving a lot of suggestions, does anyone know of quality places to buy from?
I'm interested too because I'm going to need to buy tires soon and I want a tire that is affordable (under $100), has above average tread life, and is good for all-around performance. Just a regular street tire. 17"
