Some tests show the Escort having a slightly better radar detection range, but the V1 is still up there. And like I said before, the bogey counter/location features are very helpful; no other detector has that. I researched quite a bit before I spent my $400, but I bought the V1 and am glad I did.
When you get a detector, you'll find that most of the time it goes off, it's a false alarm. But, what if there's a speed trap in an area where there's also a false alarm? A regular detector would just beep more than normal around that spot, but sometimes false alarms have a strong signal, so it may normally show full strength anyways. Maybe you'll get lucky and the cop's radar will be on a different band than the false alarm, and you're detector will show that. But, a V1 will tell you about the extra signal, which band it's on, and where it's coming from.
