B18C6 turbo - Mini AWD build

I read JJKZ24;s thread (and many others over the last few days!). Impressive!

I saw my original thread had been locked for replies so apologies if starting this again is a pain....please bear with me, i will try not to waste peoples time. My plan is to document the whole build for others.

There seem to be lots of options and solutions with varying opinions.

What I have learnt so far for a 400 whp build (I think)

Dropping the CR a little helps with boost headroom but stock CR on a B18C is OK (although guidance on how much lower the CR could be to be useful varies a lot).
H section con rods are better. various suppliers (Eagle?)
Turbo size and supplier TBA (still researching)
Hondata and S300 on an OBDC1 ecu
Crank upgrades.....don't bother
Larger fuel pump
Injector size. Again lots of opinions (still researching)
Bores. I have to go one oversize anyway. No need to reline for street and occasional track use?
Cams - Skunk stage 2
Uprated valve springs. Stock is probably OK
Inlet manifold. Keep as standard for now at least
Exhaust. Still researching. As I am putting it in an 'old' mini I may be able to get around emissions.

I also read the base article (Turbo FAQ - Read before posting) about turbos and I have noticed some of the links dont seem to work, such as http://www.team-integra.net/sections/articles/showArticle.asp?ArticleID=219

Sorry, any ideas why? Have the posts been removed?
Reading more to keep stock bores I should target around 350hp to be safe (crank).

Using the Garret calculator and assuming a 20% loss for a AWD (so making about 320 at crank). One Garret option is the GTX3071. accepting tuning is key, and assuming perfect manifolds, air/water intercooler, low altitude, temperate etc. Has anyone used this on a B16C? Thoughts?

I assumed peak power at 8100rpm.

Stick with stock cams. No need to upgrade.
Upgrade the valve springs & retainers.
3" exhaust
stock CR is fine for your power levels.
Upgrade the clutch
Thankyou very much. Does the turbo I had the garret site calculate seem reasonable? Posts suggest it may be a bit large and a GT3071R might be better? Any other preferred ones for this level of build?

I will keep research the injector size.

List so far is, bearing in mind 350hp max at crank;
No bore change
Standard pistons
Eagle CRS 5430A3D rods
GARRETT T3/T04E - seems good up to 400HP and a reasonably costed unit. My peak power assumption is 8100rpm approx.
Valves - standard but upgraded springs and retainers
3inch exhaust
Walbro 255l/hr fuel pump

Given I am very space constrained, my intercooler plan was IC link
Standard Integra R inlet manifold

Q's?
  1. The stock injector size is I believe 240 cc/min. keihins (pintle nozzle, high impedance). Should they be bigger?
  2. I plan to use a speeduino ECU and I believe this has enough sensor inputs assuming the VTEC cam solenoid is only controlled by RPM. Is that correct? Is so what RPM is that on a B18C6?
  3. There are a million exhaust headers out there. I assume an equal length one is best from the research? Header
Thoughts?

I've been doing research on the Speeduino ECU system which I have used on bikes. It looks like it can handle the Vtec control with a small mod to add oil pressure to the MAP/RPM control inputs.

I will also convert to COP

I like the Speeduino the interface is very good and live tuning is pretty easy as a base start for a dyno run.

My next big question is what turbo? I am looking at a Garret T3/T04E which should be fine for my 350 crank BHP target. I'm trying to limit crank HP a bit to avoid lots of engine mode so a turbo with a bit more headroom (max 400 BHP at the wheels) would be nice which the T3 might stretch to?

Any lower cost but good options? Experience anyone?
Any help guys? I have read soooo much on turbos and there are lots of opinions.

Based on my power requirements from my B18C6 of 350BHP at crank.

My only takeaways so far are;
1. Go ball bearing of you can afford it (better spool time, oil management etc)
2. T3/T04Garret? Are there any similar options but lower cost? The Garret ball version is $2k on some sites!!

Appreciate the help
