i dunno about a $20 shortshifter... I am one of those people who likes to put parts on my car that will last though. I have heard bad things about the DC shifter (and that seems to be overpriced for what you are looking at...). I personally have the B&M proedge with bushing kit, and it works great, and i have heard good things about the neuspeed and the skunk 2, but those are the companies... Anyway, good luck. (also, for the pulleys, i am sure you can run a search and find reasons for/against them in less than 30 seconds.... from what i have read--> pulleys = not too good for the car, but AEM is alot better than Unorthodox if you want your engine to last...)

I wouldnt trust any $20 short shifter either. I'm also very skeptical about the DC shifters too. They have a warranty and 4 of my friends had to send theirs back in because it broke in half while racing. To change the shifter, you have to remove center console and shift knob. Then go under car and remove shift linkage and stuff. only takes about 15 min. if you know what you are doing.

as far as the underdrive pulleys... unorthodox racing UD pulleys replace stock units. the front stock pulley doubles as a harmonic balancer for your engine. don't remove it if you want your engine to last a long time. the aem one does not replace the front unit leaving the harmonic balancer in place. the UD pulleys in general don't really give you that much gain anyway. 1 or 2 hp, you're not going to feel. for that kind of money, i'll save it for something that's going to give me real gains. not something that will make my engine bay pretty. just my two cents.

I would be worried about the cheap-o short shifter. If you have a shift knob that is attached by secure screws like momo, its not as big a deal.

Otherwise, if/when the short shifter snaps not only do you have to get a new shifter, but you may need a new shift knob depending on where it brakes.

on an another note, PatrickGSR from H-T/H-A has had a $45 autozone shifter on his GSR for about a year with no problems. Guess how you shift comes into play as well.

I dont understand how all these people say there alt took a dump on them and it messed up thier elec system! Maybe they were installed wrong/ maybe ECU wasnt reset? I dont hate or absolutely love my pulleys but they are on spinning!!!!! passing up takers!!!!!!!!

if you didn't notice any gains, what did you spend the money on the pulleys for?

what's the ecu got to do with anything?

if you were only concerned about the pulleys spinning, you should've kept your money and your stock pulleys. my stock pulleys spin just fine.

prolonged high revving will not be very good for your engine. if you're running your car like a normal person and not like an autocrosser and you don't have a big in-car entertainment system, you should be fine. don't worry about it.

The way I look at things one modification isnt gonna make me speed racer! But when I start putting a few modifications that complement one another: That's when the package starts to come together and all the leggo pieces start to be the same color!

"Concerning the pulleys, Honda engines are internally balance, the harmonic balancer is not as critical for engine longeveity as an externally balanced American V-8. only a few years of particular Honda motors actually had a mass damping front pulley w/ a rubber mounted inertia ring and since all Hondas are internally balanced, the low mass Unorthodox pulleys are not a problem."
