Whassup i just took my car to get my A/C checked out yesterday and discovered underneath my intake arm, theres two A/C hoses and apparently one has been rubbing against the intake arm and now has a gash on it, causing it to leak freon.
Dealer wants over 200 for this piece...i was wondering if it was safe to weld it back? it has a gash on the pipe and my intake arm...it loooks like someone took a racor blade and cut it...like when you're trying to stripe a wire.. has anyone ever replaced this part? my roomate has the same integra, but doesnt plan on charging his AC would it be safe for him to drive around if i took his AC pipe off? thanx....please get back at me ASAP i dont wanna be overcharged by they dealer..

I had the same thing happen to me, intake rubbed a whole through the a/c line. Mine leaked all the coolant out of it. Don't bother trying to patch it or anything, i tried, and nothing really worked. I ended up goin to the dealer and payin 60$ for that new section of pipe. You could probably find it cheaper somewhere else, but it was hotter than hell when it happened to me, and i didn't really care about the price. That a/c just connects with two bolts on it, all you have to do, is take the old one out, and put the new section in and bolt it up, its kinda trickey gettin it in cause of all the bends and what not in the pipe, but it can be done, i did it. Then just go to an auto parts store and buy a r134a recharge kit for like 29.99, and get an extra bottle of coolant and oil, charge it up, and it'll be good as new.
