I have a 96 GS-R, and my goal is to get about 200whp out of the engine n/a. What kinds of things will it take to get there? I want to kind of get a list of ideas going now before i start. Thanks!

big cam, big fuel, big compression, big header...the all motor mantra.

pretty straight forward partswise...but that's not the thing that gets you there...it's the right combination and TUNING... I see an ECU reprogramming as your last step or part in this adventure in your future.

oh, did I already say you need $4000-5000 in the long run?

Not trying to discourage you, and I am NOT a turbo guy, in fact I am dead against turbo, but for 4 or 5K like MD said, you could easily have well over 200 WHP. Just something to think about...

MD, when you say big header, do you mean...maybe... a JDM ITR 4-1 header? or is there something more compatible with big cams, more fuel, and more compression?

im not a fan of NOS but that will get you there really fast and it is pretty inexpensive.

cheapest way would be a 50 shot of nitrous and upgrade your injectors and a fuel management system... i'm sure a lot of people are gonna say NO2 is the sissy way to go, but a B18 can handle a 50 shot without blinking an eye. just don't go to crazy with it and hey... it's still 50hp or so at the push of a button. just make sure it's tuned right and you don't hit it everytime you take off the line.

replace your intake manifold, throttle body, intake, and exaust to feel up the air flow. then get cams, valves, retainers, cam gears, ecu, and headers. with this u should have 200whp depending upon the brand names u get.

MD, so if the JDM 4-1 header is minimum, what are some others that have bigger diameters, but keeping the 4-1 design??

DC JDM 4-1 (same as JDM ITR 4-1 but cheaper)

Spoon 4-1 (Spoon's hybrid 4-2-1 is better though and also has a 2.5 in. collector)

Mugen 4-1 (did not perform better than the JDM ITR 4-1 or DC JDM 4-1)
