  1. car throwing the p1399 code and engine light won't go off

    Generation Three
23 is a knock sensor but you're not supposed to have one on 97 GS. That said, the knock sensor senses detonation and tells the ECU to retard the timing a little. So the p301 p302 p304 p1300 and the p1399 codes are no longer present or you're counting this one out too? The way I read the time...
  2. no start, but has power

    Generation Two
If the power at the S terminal maintains 11.88 or so to 12+ volts when starting as normal and all connections have been checked, and you are getting the click, it should turn the starter. The distributor has nothing to do with that process. By all means test everything before you buy...
  3. no start, but has power

    Generation Two
Shane the reason I asked those two questions is if it doesn't jump but it will push start then it's probably the starter, especially with the click. You can double check, test that the solenoid S terminal is getting battery voltage when you are trying to start it. If it is and it clicks then...

I was just wishing him goodnight.

Wheel *Bearing* = 25MPH and jerking wheel heavy from side to side with a LOW/DEEP sounding grumble/grind in sync with the apex of each the turn. Grease your caliper pins and try again.
  6. car throwing the p1399 code and engine light won't go off

    Generation Three
OK Chris. Maybe your neighbor could check the timing, there's tutorials here if you guys need them. I wonder what color the plugs were when he took them out?
  7. help with cell codes. What to do with code 43?

    Generation Two
Stick a fuel pressure meter on the top of your fuel filter. If it's spec, it may be your injectors and you can check your FPR.
  8. no start, but has power

    Generation Two
Can you jump it. Can you still push start it?
  9. car throwing the p1399 code and engine light won't go off

    Generation Three
Chris, those codes are telling you that all your cylinders are misfiring so the ICM as suggested, considering what you've replace so far, is worth checking. The 1399 is also a misfire DTC. Use this link for some insite into how to check the ICM. Advanced Ignition Troubleshooting - Team Integra...
  10. 95 gsr starting problems

    Generation Three
I was referring to testing the coil but the whole ignition test link is a very short and simple test. If you are going to just buy a coil then I suggest buying the OEM for your best shot. 95 GSR coil is the 30510-PT2-006. Number 12 here. Acura Parts @ AcuraOEMparts.com - Genuine Acura OEM...
  11. 95 gsr starting problems

    Generation Three
Not to be redundant Kyle but I agree. However, and I think the OP will learn, that chicks like guys who know how to do cool tests. GL with your process.
  12. 95 gsr starting problems

    Generation Three
Kyle, I was using wrist band as an extreme example not suggesting this is the key to this event. OP, You weren't getting a code but were worried about multiple codes and are willing to plunk out money without testing anything. This is more interesting than I first imagined.

    Long long short short = 22. + Long short = 11.
  14. 95 gsr starting problems

    Generation Three
As I said I jumped back in too fast I missed you had a code. Yes that will reveal the code long light = X 10 short = 1. Long long short short = 22. Off the top don't know of a coil code but you may get a misfire one. Do the procedure, sorry.
  15. 95 gsr starting problems

    Generation Three
I agree Kyle. It's recommend to wear a grounded wrist band like you'd wear for a PC on some models WITH the battery disconnected. As you also mentioned, and it a good practice, to do the tests before you buy. DIYSer, going fast is fun but slowing down is inevitable. It's just a few simple...
  16. 95 gsr starting problems

    Generation Three
Sorry just jumped in and didn't see your other post. OK you know how to line up the dist correctly and now know how to short the service connect. If you blew your coil something very strange happened when you where bending the connections around or you have done something unknown. Do the ign...
  17. 95 gsr starting problems

@ 91_LS, yeah ditto on the rotor install. I was more concerned with the OP's dist line up but thanks for the heads up.
  18. 95 gsr starting problems

    Generation Three
Didn't know that could only happen on OBD 0. *It seems like I've heard that incredibly happening outside of OBD 0 though?* I have never disconnected the battery when pulling the dist but have never not disconnected the dist connections. Disconnect the bat when in doubt.
  19. car throwing the p1399 code and engine light won't go off

    Generation Three
Do a compression check. Sorry but I had to say it. Always do a compression check when a tuneup, including spark plug wires fails. And you didn't mention if your neighbor changed the rotor.
