4 Wires Per Door Speaker?
Car is a 2000 Integra LS with no special upgraded packages from the factory. While replacing the speakers in the doors (both drivers and tweeters), I noticed something odd about how the drivers (6.5"?) were wired up - they have 4 speaker wires going into their wiring harness plug.
I would have expected to see only 2 wires going into the speaker, and after wiring up the replacements with the same 4 wires, I get good sound, so it doesn't negatively affect the performance to have 4. I was just wondering the reasoning/behavior behind the decision to wire the door drivers like this at build time.
I know that all the speakers are not wired this way, as I have replaced the tweeters and they only have 2 wires like I would expect,.
I have not replaced the rear speakers in the side panels behind the seats yet, but if/when I do, does anyone know if they are similarly wired?
