My Sunroof Exploded

Hello again Team-Integra! Today, I was driving fast with my friend in my 2000 2dr GSR, and I was up to around 120-125mph, and suddenly my sunroof completely exploded. At least that’s what I think happened, I heard a very loud noise and suddenly my sunroof was no longer on my car. I’m trying to figure out what I need to do to fix my car. Do I need to buy any parts besides the glass? Because looking on eBay it looks like the glass on there already has a sort of frame around it. Or do I need to get more parts? Should I go to a Pick n’ Pull and try and get one from there? Are the sedan and coupe sunroofs the same? I’m lost for what to do, it seems like no Autoglass place can really help me out.

Here’s some pictures of the damage:

It looks like the frame around where the glass was is totally mangled. Is this normally a separate piece from the glass? Also, how can I prevent this from happening if I’m driving fast in the future? Or should I really just never take my car above 80mph?

My dad found this glass on eBay:

Should I just go ahead and purchase this one? Is the frame around this one going to just bolt into my car and be good? Also, should I get new weather stripping or should I just use the old one that’s already on my car? I’m just really trying to prevent this from ever happening in the future.

Sorry for the mess of words and questions. Really dumb-founded at this happening, and I’ll tell you, my sunroof exploding was the last thing I thought would happen while driving fast.

If I remember right, this was actually something that was, not necessarily common, but occurring frequently. There are threads about it in the 3rd gen forum, if you search for sunroof.

That's a huge search, here

Those might help a little...

Since going to church makes you a Christian, does going to the garage make you a car?

If my sig offends you, ignore it. If you don't know how, pm me & I can show you.

I think that I want to get one from a pick n’ pull, but something that just crossed my mind is that I have no idea how to get the sunroof off without opening it up a little bit. How should I go about taking a sunroof from a junkyard if I can’t power up the car there?

Look inside the owner manual there is a way to get the sunroof open even with no power to it. It also been mention on TI (search button is your best friend).

About time I can now apply for Historic Tags for my GS/VTEC Automatic and no more SMOG

there's a wrench in your tire jack accessory bag like this:!64076!US!-1

plugs into the moonroof motor to turn it manually. pry of the round plastic cover and you'll see it.

Got my sunroof all fixed! It was 1/2 price weekend at the Pick n’ Pull so I got this baby for only $22. Let’s hope this one lasts me a bit longer than the other one, and I won’t be driving that fast when it’s hot outside anymore!

Quick edit because I thought it might be a good idea to mention if anyone else has this problem. If you don’t have the sunroof tool from your accessory bag, a 5mm Allen/hex works in its place. For the manual opening of the sunroof, and the 6 bolts that hold the glass/frame on.
