Fuel delivery issue still after fuel pump change, 95 GSR
The car has been hesitating during acceleration for a few weeks, but it always started fine/idled fine. Then I drove to the gas station, filled the tank, it started up and I pulled out of the parking lot, shifted from 1st to 2nd and it died, wouldn't restart, had to get it towed home.
I replaced the fuel pump (Denso), the car has 227K and it had never been replaced so I figured I'd start there. With the new pump in, it started up perfect, idled fine for around 15 minutes, then died, wouldn't restart, and now I'm also getting a pop out of the exhaust as it's trying and failing to start.
The next day with the engine completely cold once again, I tried to start it and it started fine, it idled for 15 minutes, still all good. Took it for a short drive, and I could tell it wanted to bog and die out if I let the rpm's get too low. Still has hesitation issues. When I got back home after driving for about one mile, I stopped in front of my driveway and it died, I had to push it in, once again it wouldn't restart. Doing the pop sound still when I try to start it, just a single pop most of the time, occasionally two pops.
Can anyone point me in a helpful direction?
fwiw, the fuel filter was changed just 27,200 miles ago.
Dist cap and rotor are 21,100 miles old.
Plugs and wires are 17,600 miles old.
