My "Clutch" issue...need some help..

Ok guys... heres the problem I have..

About a year ago I traded my accord for an integra. The person I traded with said that the slave cylinder was bad and needed to be replcaced which was obvious because it wouldnt hold pressure and had to be bled in order to get clutch feeling in the pedal.. I happened to change both slave and master.. Now he also told me he just put a new clutch in the car.. Now onto my issue...

After I changed the slave and the master and bled the system the car drove fine, except that the clutch doesnt seem to engage at the same engage point in the pedal..it engages pretty high in the pedal, its almost like its engage disengage.. and it doesnt feel smooth when the clutch grabs.. its almost like the car lunges forward when engaging 1st and second gear... 3,4,5 it shifts smooth...and down shifting is a nightmare.. it feels like my whole front end hits hard...now thinking that maybe he fed me b/s I went ahead and changed the clutch.. when I took out the clutch it did in fact look new, I put in a 6 puck and where the car does seem to feel better I still have the same issue.. I replaced a rear mount which was broken and it doesnt hit as hard but it is really starting to get to me.. Ive been driving like this for some time now and it doesnt seem to be getting any worst, but it aggrivates me because my girl has an integra and everytime i drive it its like Im driving a brand new car by the way it shifts so nice and smooth...Ive searched alot on many different forums, google, you tube and I cant seem to get a clear answer on my problem.. Im guessing its my flywheel because that is the only part other than the transmission that was on the car with the original clutch that came with the car..anyone else have this problem with theyre clutch .. howd u fix it..

A six puck clutch is going to be grabby by nature, they do not allow much slip at all, giving an on-off feel. Your six puck clutch most likely came with a very stiff pressure plate which would contribute to the on-off feel. Also check your clutch pedal height and freeplay against the specs and make sure it is where honda wants it to be. Basicly if you want an OEM feel to your clutch you need to get an OEM clutch kit, i would recommend EXEDY.

Why did you put in a 6 puck clutch?!

I've never met one that is "smooth" to engage.

I got the 6 puck for free... and i have driven my buddy's car which has a 6 puck and it doesnt behave like mines does... though it does grab hard on his it doesnt have that bucking feel which i'm feeling.. Im going to check the clutch pedal adjustment tomorrow and if it continues Im going to go buy a new clutch and flywheel.. thanks for the help guys..

Just clarifying some information. People hear 6/4 pucks clutch and instantly think its going to be a nightmare to drive. It depends if these are sprung or not. An unsprung clutch will grab pretty instantly but with springs its totally different.

I've been running an exedy stage 2 which is 3 puck with springs. I don't have any driveability/jerkiness issues.

I have the exact same high engagement problem with my clutch pedal. It won't grab or anything until I am halfway up the travel. I don't have the jerky grabbing part, but I do have the same pedal distance issue. I would love to get this little issue figured out.

seems like you have to adjust your clutch pedal, which is pretty simple, just loosen the number 10mm nut behind the clutch master cylinder thats holds onto your pedal, remove the pin and clip and then turn it clockwise or counterclock.

get a helms manual and adjust ur clutch pedal accordingly ....good luck

Bleeding the system can be quite a chore, especially if you replace the master cylinder (the highest point of the system). I used a hand operated vacuum pump and it was bled in no time and had a good feel.

Did you put in an OEM feel clutch, or a 'higher performance' clutch? Is the clutch pedal stroking the rod it the mastercylinder well? There is an adjustment, as mentioned above.

Is the slave cylinder engaged properly with the clutch fork? Is the fork engaged with the clutch fingers well?

vacuum pump is a must imho:

i use a 2x4 cut to size to hold the clutch pedal down, wedged in between the seat bottom and pedal for easy bleeding. had to adjust the pedal to get my beloved cruise control back.
