I'm having some idle/acceleration issues:

* My car currently idles at about 1k RPM when the engine is warm.
* When I put the car in neutral as it is moving, or push the clutch, the RPMs climb to somewhere between 2-2.5k.
* The RPMs slowly drop back down to about 1.5k if I stop the car, but not immediately.

I've tried:

* Adjusting the idle to 650 RPM with the IAC unplugged. This is what set it to the 1k RPM idle, where it was previously 1.5k.
* Adjusting the TPS. The sensor reads .5v at closed throttle, 3.30v at WOT. Yes, I know it's supposed to be 4.5v but I'm unable to adjust the TPS any further.
* Replacing the TPS. Just installed a new one tonight and it acts exactly like the last one.
* Adjusting the throttle cable. I tightened it up a bit but there is still some play in the cable.

The high idle and acceleration in neutral started after I originally adjusted the TPS in order to resolve an intermittent stuttering issue at low speeds. The throttle would cut out and then kick back in, making the car buck rather violently. At one point I got a CEL stating that there was a throttle sensor issue but it hasn't come back after an ECU reset.

I've got a 96 SE with a 99 B20B, an SRI and a lightened flywheel. The flywheel and motor have been installed since Oct 2010. A couple thousand miles before the car started idling funny, I used some "stop leak" style oil additive.

I have a Helms but I haven't had a chance to look through it yet. Has anyone run into anything like this before?

Thanks!

so i think this is the reason we had to do an overhaul, but for some reason my fans aren't kicking on... a few months ago i was driving home w/o the ac on and check engine light popped on and long story short it was a burnt valve and we got head checked out, new valves, new piston rings, blah blah... replaced both temp sensors on side of engine, but even when the thermostat inside the car reads about 40 percent the fans still do not kick on... have to manually put on the ac and both fans will kick on... i'm just not sure what else i need to replace to get those moving? before i had these issues she would always sit around 20-30 percent or so...

Hey all- new guy here and have been looking around and I'm amazed at how awsome this site is. I just bought my first Integra '99 LS and am stoked, always wanted one. It's just about my dream car. Seeing as you all are so knowledgable, I thought I'd ask for opinions before I take it to get diagnosed.

Anyway, I just started doing some routine maintenance (and I'm no expert mechanic by any means, call me an amateur). I went to replace the plugs and wires, and noticed a bit of oil down in plug #1 tube. So I did some searching and it sounded like a fairly common problem with honda motors. So I replaced the VC gasket and spark plug gaskets. Drove around fine the other day, no leak, but I go to hop in for my 40 mile drive to work, and I think there's some random misfiring going on. Go to accelerate and she just doesn't have any oomph. Idle's just fine, but hitting the gas just boggs her down.

A little background on my new cherished baby, before I brought her home, the previous owner said he changed the timing belt, water pump, and put a new clutch in. Not sure if this makes any difference. The guy seemed pretty mechanically inclined.

I've been feeding it premium and it's got a seafoam treatment in the gas as we speak. Just put in new NGK iridium plugs and new wires after the gasket replacement. The old plugs looked like they were gapped a bit much compared to .044 I hear is required. Could it be the distributor? A buddy mentioned ignition coil? Timing off? I'm at a loss.

I wanna treat this car like the beauty she is... any thoughts on what could be causing the misfires or bogging down with accel? I appreciate all the knowledge I've already learned from you guys. Any help would be much appreciated!!

If you make Vtec engage later, can you not feel it as much?

So ever since i got my 96 gsr i had always tried hitting vtec at 4400 because thats when it should kick in stock. The guy who i bought it from didnt tell me he messed with the ecu so maybe it's chipped or something. But anyway, i cleaned the vtec solenoid and for the first time, got it up to 6000 rpm, which is when it kicked in, but you couldnt feel anything, you could just hear it.

So im wondering, if you chip the ecu for vtec to kick in later, is it not as noticeable? I really want to get it back down 4400 rpm because if i try hitting it at 3rd, im pretty much going 90 mph on the freeway. anyways, let me know
