Transmission Bearing quality?

I have installed an MFactory LSD, put in all new carbon coated syncro's, and I went to put everything back together but found one problem. My mainshaft bearing had some decent play in it, not enough that it would come apart, but enough to make me want to replace it. So I figured that instead of buying an OEM one for $60, I would try and cross reference the bearing size to find a cheaper bearing that would work just as well. Here is what I found.

The bearing is an NTN brand bearing. It's size is 28x72x18. That is not a common bearing size AT ALL! I kidd you not, even the NTN web-site itself don't have bearings this size.

So I googled it and a few matches came up. I am not contradicting myself, they are still rare, but apparently the newer Honda Crf230's are using the same sized bearing on their crankshafts. And for $18 bucks shipped! Sweet lemmy get one of those! After all, it's an NTN bearing, it's the same size, same quality, seems like they should be identical! Wrong-o

The new bearing came in, I found on;y one difference, the balls in the bearing were a little smaller and there was one less of them. Here is a crappy pic for reference. You can see the inside part that the balls roll against is a little bigger on the new bearing. That is to accommodate the smaller balls. The inside diameter is the exact same. (NOTE: OLD BEARING IS ON THE LEFT, NEW ON IS ON THE RIGHT) Ok keep reading :)

So my question is, will this bearing hold up just fine with the smaller balls? I don't know the specific load or RPM ratings because I just simply can't find them for this bearing size. Any ideas?

I have recently joined the world of Acura Integras after I traded a Mazda Protege for one. The only problem is, there has been a lot of work going into it to get it to where it is now. The timing was repulsive, the vacuum setup was just hooking everything into itself and the electronics make me want to cry. It's a work in progress but I have two things that I have no idea how to solve. For one, when my car is in park, it will idle fine and such, but when I put it into drive and say come up to a stop sign are just sit in idle, it about kills itself. Is there a problem with the throttle position sensor? I can't really find anything.. I am missing a pressure regulator cut-off solenoid valve and a purge cut-off solenoid valve.

Second (Sorry if I am breaking a rule or something) when I am in drive It never switches into gear. I checked the control box for power and it gets it, I checked to see if the solenoids are in place and they are and I put a bunch of transmission fluid into it. Is there any other things I can check other than a relay or something?

Sorry for the long rant and sadness, but thanks in advance!

Hello all.
This is my recent fleet addition to replace my daily-driver, a '86 civic si that was getting a bit too tired and starting to need work.
It's an all original Northern California LS 5 speed with 144,000 miles.
I loved my civic, but this car is in a totally different class.
What an upgrade....his thing is SO quiet and smooth!
The ride height was silly-high so I cut the rear coils and adjusted to front lower as soon as I got it in town here in Los Angeles....What a difference!
I am planning some incidentals like new shocks and tires, taller 5th gear swap, new clutch and replacing a noisy power steering pump and re-attaching the corner of the front bumper , tune up, etc.
I had the original paint color-sanded and polished, and although there are some scratches that didn't come out the car came out beautifully.

Back in 87 I bought a new legend coupe with a 5 speed, and this car kind of reminds me of a smaller version of that.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Hey guys,

So I recently purchased an 87 integra and am having a few problems. I replaced my spark plugs because my car was running really poorly and misfiring which did help. I also swapped out my MAP sensor, new thermostat, new fuel regulator and done some of the basics you do when you get a car from somebody else. The problem is though that 2 days ago I changed out the spark plugs which are now already black and the car has barely been driving. I noticed an oil leak seeping out of the rocker cover gasket so I will replace that however it seems to be fuel on the spark plugs not oil because its a black/matte color. Can anybody help me out with this? I checked the seals directly under the rocker cover and they were still pretty soft. Sorry for the essay! I've seen similar threads but they all talk about oil, unless I'm missing one that already deals with this. Thanks :)

I've had this xtd stage 4 clutch for a good minute now, in February when I installed my b20 I noticed the clutch was nearly gone, the friction pads were almost worn down to the point were the rivets holding the pads were about to start rubbing the flywheel side. I decided to run it till it was gone, now while I take off I barely start to hear it rubbing metal to metal for a quick second then it engages, and the pedal engages the clutch with very little effort, and its gettin harder to pull out and put into gear, I know its worn now. Yesteday as I was planning on goin to get the clutch, the car wouldn't start. My question is would the clutch being worn out cause it not to start, but just crank and crank and crank

May seem like an absolute dumb question, but going to post / ask it... If previously posted, I haven't found a "direct way". I've had weight on my GC / Koni setup now for 3-4 weeks, and maybe driven 100 miles or so on it. I'm trying to tweak out my ride height now before I run up for an alignment this week.

So here's the question... What point of reference is generally used to figure out the adjustment for each wheel? I'm assuming on level ground, from the "floor" to the top of the fender? After tweaking, I'm running it over the curb of my driveway a few times so it "settles". Didn't know if anyone had a more scientific way of eye-balling this, or a better center point for measuring this.

Thanks in advance...

Car died and wouldnt start cranks though. Begin checking

Brand new fuel pump, distributor, alternator, wires and plugs
Fuel pump whines and turns off
Main relay clicks twice
Cel comes on and off
Timing belt is fine fuel pressure is present
Starter is turning

Theres power going to the coil and icm when using a test light it shows power to the positive terminal of the coil but also on the negative terminal. Doesnt flash when cranking just full light. Took off all the connectors on the icm power to the blk.yellow and the other one no power to the blue or the green/yellow that runs beside the hall window magnet. All fuses are fine and no burnt relays. Changed both the icm and coil still no spark to either but power going to them. Checked the ckp outlet 3 of the prongs read 6.9 the other 3 read nothing. The ecu wont throw and codes completely stumped and more suggestions all i can figure is a short??
