My old one was brown, yes, but the new one was black. It will say "MITSUBA" and "RELAY ASSY., MAIN" on it, just like that picture on the last page.

ok it was that one, and i took it off and got it nice and cold, and pluged it back in, and jumped the car, and it started up, but this light keeps coming on, its the s3 light on the shift thing, so the park light is on, and then the s3 one comes on, would that be the problem?since the car is getting gas, then it just dies, and all the lights n stuff stay on! idk what it can be and im gettin frustrated and winter is coming fast! thanks for the help guys

The tachometer gets it's signal from the igniter in the distributor. I'd take a look at the Advanced Ignition Troubleshooting article if I were you, and hopefully somebody else can help you out with the S3 light. You might try searching for that problem.
