You need to drop the entire tank.
It involves detaching the fuel tank fill line (from the door up above), a vent line next to it, brackets which hold up lines that run all the way to the engine bay, plus a couple straps that hold the tank up under the car.
I suggest having a friend to help you lower it, a jack, and some way to drain fuel out if needed (probably going to the fuel level sender under the seat, and siphoning from there, dunno if it's possible through the fill).
On the very top of the tank, towards the rear on the driver's side, you'll see a lid with 6 bolts and wires coming out it... the fuel pump is directly bolted to a support on the underside, and it needs to be pulled straight up and out.
Are you positive it's the fuel pump though? Have you tried to directly hook a 12v battery to the pump wires, just to make sure it doesn't work? Sometime the main fuel relay will fail, because the solder (or something like that) heats up on a hot day, and then the connection gets broken.

Pull out the bottom backseat (theres a 10mm bolt between the upper and lower cushions, by the driver's side buckle), and then you'll see two wires going into a silver cover. Unclip the plug, and run a wire (with probably a 15A fuse) from any car battery, positive to the yellow/green wire (I think those are the colors), and a negative wire from the black wire to the negative terminal (or ground if you're using the battery in your car).

I just wanted to bring this back up, because you might be having the same problems I am, and it's better to troubleshoot the issue instead of throw parts at it.
Does the car run sometimes, or not at all? Is it hesitant to start, or does it dies after only a few seconds? Does it only happen when it's really hot outside?
My teg is starting to give me trouble when it's really hot outside, and I don't hear the pump prime when I flip the key on. If I stick my hand up under the dash beneath the steering wheel, and tap on the main fuel relay, it'll randomly flip the pump back on, and get me home.
If that sounds similar to the problem you're having, you can replace it, or follow this article to repair it. If the pump doesn't turn on when you directly wire up a constant 12v under the backseat, then it'll be the pump.

my car sat for about 2 months, because i think the fuel pump went bad, so i asked my teacher and he told me to beat on the gas tank with a rubber mallet a couple of times, i did it, jump started the car, and it ran fine for about half hour, then turned it off, and on again, then it died after 15 seconds, and he said it most likely is the pump, i have a 90 auto ls btw.. and im tryin to take the pump out, my teacher told me i could take it out from under the seat, were that silver cover is at, is that true?

The main fuel relay is a brown box under the driver dash lower panel.

It's a little to the left of the steering column, and it's right above the metal knee bolster. Looks like this:

When you turn the key to the ON position without starting the car, you should hear the relay click, and the fuel pump will make a buzzing sound which means it's priming. If there's no click, and no priming, then it could be the relay. It happens more often on hot or warm days than on cold days, because the solder in the joints can crack and expand. If the pump doesn't turn on with a direct +12v current and ground, then it will be the pump.
To answer your question about the metal cover under the back seat, when you remove it, you'll find another lid which is actually a part of the tank, and it has the fuel level sender attached to it. It definitely will not allow you access to the pump, and the only way to get the pump out is to drop the tank.

From the dealership? It's #18 here, and it's $48.71. You can use that link I already posted to try and fix the broken joints on your own if you want.
If you really want to test it out, unbolt it, unplug it, then toss it in your fridge for a few minutes. Go plug it back in and see if the pump will prime when you turn the key to the "ON" position.
You can snap the outer cover off too, and take a look at the joints on the board. Again, you can use that link I posted to see what a broken joint looks like.
