Hello everyone,
I posted this to my local forum first, and basically was told to check my fluid level... which is fine, and bright red. So I hope someone else can help me here...

I've read that auto transmissions vary slightly from year to year ( I'm guessing the soleniods or what not), my car is a 97, can anyone tell me with reasonable certainty what years other than 97 will interchange ? Please, I don't need to hear "do a manual swap.....", this is my daily driver, and I got an auto by choice, but it has started acting a little weird.... shifting while normal seems fine, but the kick down sounds kind of weird ( sounds like its slipping)... I'd rather start looking now instead of waiting til it breaks.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

The TC (torque converter might be going out or you might just need to flush out your transmission and change out the filter. But there is something else that might be the problem but not likely. It can be that your tubes that run from the transmission to the rad is clogged up and so the transmission is overheating. Also chick your back motor mount

Had the tranny serviced at dealership about 5k ago. Will check the mount tomorrow... good point I hadn't thought of.
I do appreciate that alot, but still need the original question answered... I'm weird, kinda would like to have another tranny, just incase....

obd1 trans are cable acuated and obd2 auto trans are computer controlled. Look at your throttle body, there should be no additional cable similar to throttle cable.

^^ What he said. I bought a used transmission from a 96-97 (???) not exact sure of the year because it DOES have a VIN tag. But anyways... I tried putting it into my 2001 Automatic and it fits, but I cant connect one sensor and there is a cable that attaches to the throttle body which I cant connect because I have a 2001.

BUT it still drives, I just need to get that sensor hooked and I think it should be very driveable.

and instead of that cable, newer tegs have a linear solenoid on the front of the trans, and the mainshaft/countershaft speed sensors are in different locations. That is about all I could find out while doing my own searching.
