Hey TI,
I'm going to buy HIDs today. I can't decide whether I want 8000k or 10000k. Does anyone have any 10,000k HID light pics they can post? I've been able to find 8,000k HID light pics in a teg under the quick ref list but not so much 10,000k. Also, if you can find them on the site somewhere, a link will be just as good.
Also, i called my local police station to ask about laws/restrictions regarding aftermarket HIDs and nobody had even heard of HID lights. LOL
Thanks

you dont want 8000k or 10000k unless you want annoying purple lights that put off less light output than the stock halogens. Do yourself a favor and get some 4300k or at the most 6000k which will give you a little more blue look. Not to mention these will give out MUCH better light output than the 8k's and 10k's.

definitely not trying to flame on the OP but by the looks of his future plans
he's going for the rice look. (ground effects, body kit, blue lights)
so telling him to get 4300k or 6000k is def out the picture...not gonna happen
i would say get the 8000k...i had them on a gti about a year ago...light output was not horrible and i gotta admit the blue looks cool.
unfortunately i do not have pics, but can tell you that u'd be happier with the 8000k
p.s. i'd be weary about the cops, in my area they don't really care all the time, but if they want to pull u ovr, they can always use that as an excuse.
best of luck!

he asked 8k or 10k. not what brings the most light output. I would say go with 8k, its your car do whatever color you want.
8k isnt purple, i have 8k's myself and they are more white than blue.
here is a reference picture

I know he asked about the 8k's and 10k's, but I was just letting him know incase he was new to HID's and didnt understand how the light and lumen outputs differ between them. I know cause I made the rookie mistake of getting 10k's once and I hated them. But if thats what the OP wants then go ahead man, they do you look sweet on show cars.

for HID's the higher the it is the less light it will output you will get the most output at 4300-6000k and being less blue/purple

Honestly, my car came with the rice look. Except the rice look had an on/off switch which i think was nice. lol I'm referring to the blue lights my original owner had installed. He had ground effects lights all the way around as well as door handle(interior/ext) and pedal/floor blue lights. It looks great but the ability to turn it on or off can take away the rice look some. Also, I've seen some integras with body kits that compliment the car EXTREMELy well. I'm not buying a body kit till a.) it meets that criteria of complimenting the car and b.) I get enough money to spend that much comfortably. And yes I did know that the brightness of the lights gets lower as the kelvin(temp) gets higher. Thanks though.

Now back to the subject. I appreciate all you guys help...It's just honestly still hard to pick. I mean the light output from 8,000k to 10,000k does definitely go down but is it enough to sacrifice that cool bluer look that the 10,000k has...? I might wait around to see if i get any teg pics with 10,000k.
Any idea how to search within a thread? I could search for 10000 in the hid quick ref list...

10000k is not worth it. i ran with those for a couple months and my eyes were dying. i had headaches driving with them. i sold them to my friend and bought me some 8000k. they were really nice looking bluish-white with no strain on my eyes when i had them installed. eventually sold those for 6000k :D couldn't be happier.

Yeah, it is enough. Dont get 10k lights PLEASE. Pictures are useless to gauge color without a real reference.
A 10,000k light is like bright blue. Like christmas light blue. The whole point of HID's are to light up the road. If you want a blue pop then retrofit a real HID projector into your headlights. The light itself is supposed to be as bright and useful as possible.

I was gonna get 10k myself. But you gotta think realistic about your headlights. Try this analogy. It may be "cool" to walk around in a batman costume but how practical is it? Even Bruce is only batman when the situation calls, not ALL night. Plus you got your "cool" points with the undercar kit. The 8k kit should be suffice enough. Oh and I think the 10k would mess with your eye over time due to the re-tinting of everything in it's path. With the 8K everything looks neon. So I if that's any indication of how 10k would be I would pass.

i have 10ks and there pretty deep blue from outside, however from a driver POV its kinda light blue whiteish. either way i didnt notice improvement on the light output when i installed mine besides the fact that the light bounced of all the signs on the streets. i would try 8k if i were cus i think its a bit brighter then the dark blue.
