For those following my log(not many are), I'm in the process of deep cleaning my interior. I've taken just about all of the platic, besides the dash, out. The carpet needs a good cleaning and I don't want to just do a basic shampoo since stains typically show up a week later. I've heard about removing the carpet and power washing it. Has anyone here tried this? How did it turn out and how long did it take to dry? Thanks in advance.

I powerwashed mine with simple green.

just take it out and hang that ish from a tree.

I let it dry for about a day, but if you want to speed it up a shop vac can help get a lot of the water out.

and the carpets are moulded( obviously) so itll kinda keep the shape as if it were in the car.

and as you know you can use any stain remover stuff pre-powerwash to help rid the stains.

If the stains are bad enough, dye time, lol

it seems like if you are going to go through the trouble of removing the carpet, may as well spend 125 dollars to buy a replacement carpet. but then again those carpets dont come with all the padding that the oem carpet comes with so maybe thats why you dont want to do that.

I pressure washed my floor mats once. it was extremely hot out. I vacuumed with a shop vac then let the sun dry it and it took only a mater of hours.

also, I know somoene who owns a carpet steam cleaning business. The chemicals he uses is this pink stuff labeled "extraction carpet cleaner" that he gets from smart and final, and oxy clean. he mixes that with hot water and it works pretty damn well.

I use pressure washer/ power washer on all carpets that I clean and I have a steam cleaner as well. Pressure washing beats steam cleaning by a lot and it takes less effort. Just let the carpet soak in water and your favorite carpet soap/shampoo and then power wash it. Try to do this on a sunny day though so it dries nicely otherwise it might stink if it does not dry in a day or so. Seeing as you live in AZ you probably would not have a problem.

I power washed my carpet, it turned out great. After removing the carpet took the power washer and got it all wet. Than used some washing detergent and a brush and got to work. After that used the pressure washer and rinsed it out.

Having worked at a carwash for years I've found pressure washing, if possible, is one of the best ways to clean carpet. We used an industrial steam cleaner and Zep cleaning chemical without much success. Customers floor mats ALWAYS came out cleaner from some scrubbing and pressure washing.

Professional true steam companies can do some amazing work but if you can have the carpet out easily it can't hurt to give pressure washing a shot. I think most would be surprised at how effective it can be. Simple green works great, but also as odd as it sounds, you might try Wesley's Bleche Wite on trouble spots. Just be sure its all thoroughly rinsed out before you call it a day.

The only issue I can see with pressure washing is the pressure. If you aren't carfull about how close you get the tip you may cut right through the carpet if the pressure is high enough.

Thats a good point. The one I use is about 1500psi. Make sure that you use a 30 degree pattern or so, you can get close with that just dont use a 0 degree pattern.

there is nothing wrong with pressure washing the carpet. the point here is to use what you already have and not go anywhere or spend any more money.

The money thing is not an issue. giale, my ORIGINAL post states clearly that shampooing has not worked for me in the past. And, I've already posted me decision to go with pressure washing. I'll post up the results next week.
