12/19/08: Small homecoming surprise!

Got home today from my 4-month stay in Spain and found that my dad had bought me some awesome goodies.

- Used OEM 98-01 USDM ITR lip w/ hardware ($100)
- Used OEM Frost White fenders w/ some nicks & scratches ($40)

I found these parts on Craigslist while I was in Spain and my dad went ahead and picked them up for me, apparently he is quite the negotiator. The lip was the best part, because my brother & cousin plowed my car into the back of our ATV while trying to tow my car to the old garage (not running right now, dunno why). So yah, definitely an upgrade, even though my bumper has a huge gouge in it.

SO EXCITED! Will have pics up soon once I have the new fenders on and I can use my brothers SLR.

09/29/08: End of summer projects

After my car got pwnd it sat in the body shop for about a month getting a new (used) door put on and painted. The body work cost me about $1,500 (total rip). Insurance covered it so I wasn't that upset but still I could've acquired another used door myself and gotten it painted for about half that. But, I had them paint the rear valence at the same time, at least that looks pretty cool.

Then I did the following mods over the summer: (More details on this build)

- DIY 98+ JDM tails
- Koni Yellows with Ground Control sleeves and tophats, 375 front, 325 rear.
- ITR 22mm rear sway bar
- ASR subframe brace
- New generic rotors front/back
- Generic pads front/back (big mistake, upgrading to Axxis Ultimates soon)
- Hi-Flow 2.25" catalytic converter
- Removed B-pipe bottleneck
- Street tuned by 'Facetuned' in Tacoma on eCtune.
- TWM dual-bend short shifter
- New replica ABS ITR lip (will be painted later)

The cost of all this was a cool $1,600, putting the total expense figure at a little over $3,000, but now the car handles and drives amazing! This is pretty much the end of the road for this car, since it's a daily driver and has no garage so I can't afford to put more money into it. Hopefully I'll find some new fenders one of these days...

04/30/08: Collision, =(

Car got pwnd yesterday. Damage courtesy of a 1980's Ford Bronco (shit colored).













Will update again when repairs are completed.

09/08/07: New audio, ITR stuff and new corners

A month since my last update, everything in my audio project got completed, you can read about it at my thread in the 12V forum.

The clear corners I painted half smoked-amber. I think they look damn good, = P. The weighted Skunk2 knob and the USDM ITR seat are awesome too.

Oh, and my teg turned 100,000!












08/08/07: Clear corners, suspension tweaked.

Put on clear corners with amber bulbs, just for fun. My suspension has been quite bouncy since I installed it so I removed the struts and compressed/adjusted them to 3/5, and now the ride/handling is noticeably improved. On another note, my steering wheel was rattling, turned out that the nut holding it on was loose.

I also added a Valentine One radar detector (temporary).









02/26/07: New exhaust, intake, stereo, misc.

TONS of goodies and a 90k tune-up, this is what I've been waiting for.

The recent modifications include:

Comptech ITR lip

DIY Icebox - Made with the help of BSQ's kit and also installed a K&N universal filter at the same time.

Greddy 4-2-1 header installed along with a full ITR OEM cat-back exhaust. I kept the stock cat, and went with a GS-R header, which meant that I had to extend the ITR b-pipe about 6-inches to accommodate the shorter header length (pictured).

I finally installed a new stereo after having my old one stolen in its entirety. The new setup consists of the following:

- JL 300/4 amp
- Focal V1 components
- Focal A1 coaxials
- Pioneer 5900ib

I mounted the headunit in the glovebox to preserve the clean look in the interior with the block off plate, and so I can lock the deck in the glovebox along with my iPod (which provides all the music). To mount it in the glovebox I created a bracket out of sheet metal and then wrapped it in black vinyl to give it more of a stock look. In order to preserve the remote control functions while the glovebox is closed, I also installed an infrared repeater system which takes IR signals from the receiver (pictured below the ash tray) and then sends them to the glovbox with a LED transmitter. Eventually I'll move the receiver to a better position but for now it works great.

The new suspension, after driving it around for a month, has proven to be very capable. It is an extremely comfortable ride, equal to stock, and it is much stiffer. I think in the future I will put in an ITR rear sway-bar, as this would only increase stiffness and is fairly inexpensive.

Pro-kit is listed as 1.3 all around by eibach, some people claim its a little bit more int the front.

How do you like the ride now that your dropped? Too harsh/soft? Likes or dislikes? In the next month or so ill be gettting the same setup but with koni yellows.
