You really shouldn't cut the bumpstops at all. They're there for a reason, which is to prevent the suspension from bottoming out, and it acts as a "helper" spring under extreme conditions.
Some spring/shock companies say to cut between 1/3 and 1/2 of the bumpstop. Others (like H&R) tell you NOT to cut the bumpstops.
If you're constantly hitting the bumpstops daily driving, then your shocks may not be able to handle your springs. Or, quite simply, you're too low.
The idea behind cutting the bumpstops is to gain a little bit more of suspension travel from lowering. Coilovers will allow you to keep most of your stock suspension travel, whereas lowering springs do not.
If you feel you need to go real low, then get coilovers. If you just want a small drop less than 2 inches, then lowering springs and good shocks to match will work good.

Does anyone know the spring rates of the Koni Sport Kit for G3? All I can find is it comes with Kon yellow and lower 40mm (2-9/16") all around. Anyone have those?
Thanks,

Out of curiousity, I'm aware that e-bay brand coilovers will provide a bumpy ride on factory shocks. But let's say they are paired with an adjustable shock like the AGX's, will there be room to dial in for a comfortable ride?
Anyone have experience with this set up and how the ride comfort is?
-Thanks

For anyone who's curious about the spring rates listed as "xx% stiffer than stock", I did the math out for common percentages.
Percentages over the stock RS, LS, GS, GSR spring rates (212F, 117R):
10% stiffer: 233 F, 128 R
15% stiffer: 240 F, 135 R
20% stiffer: 254 F, 140 R
25% stiffer: 265 F, 146 R
OEM Type R spring rates work out to be 16% stiffer than the other trims in the front. Rears (which are progressive) go from 20% stiffer, to 110% stiffer when compressed.

There are two types of spring designs: progressive and linear. Progressive springs are designed for comfort without giving up too much in the way of handling. They are coiled in a way that provides a low spring rate when uncompressed, and stiffens the farther the spring is compressed. This means you don’t have a stiff ride, but can still have some fun. They are inferior springs for real racing. Linear springs have a set spring rate that does not change. This can be soft for a luxurious ride, or ultra stiff for precise handling, or anywhere in-between. Linear springs provide a much more predictable feel.
