ok i got a quick question (and yes did search)...im wondering how you guys have your sub boxs secured

my problem: i have a full size spare tire, my box just sits on top of the carpet (which is also on the spare) i have it ratchet strapped from the back seat locking metal rings (the metal bars in whch the rear seats lock onto) and runs around the box...but my sub box still slides around, i need some ideas on how to secure it and im wondering what you guys have done...pics would help greatly.

I do have the idea to drill some holes in the spare tire well (front and back of the tire)and put some eye-bolts with sealent in them and run ratchet straps over top of it...just wondering if anyone thinks that would be a good idea or not?

how ironic i can rebuild engines of all kinds but cant figure out how to secue a sub box lol

thanks Fellas

i am putting 2 10's in my teg in a sealed box here soon. my plan is to make a new floor out of plywood. i am going to make a hatch to access the spare with hinges on it. where the sub box sits i am going to bolt it to the floor.

used some tie downs, this makes you delete the rear carpet, or you can just cut holes in it. i drilled holes in the floor, bolted those brackets down (got em at a local hardware store for like $4 each) and you have to make sure they are far enough outside the part of the car where you can reach it from below.

if i had to do it again, i would have put the brackets further forward. i've taken it on a dozen canyon runs and absolutely RIPPED on it, and it hasn't moved an inch. also i can undo the straps and take the sub out for use of the spare.

I actually just secured my subs yesterday. Basically what I did was cut a new floor piece (using the old cardboard as a template). Then made a frame on the bottom using some 1x2 "Premium Furring Strip".

Crappy cell phone pic

I got four L brackets (2 front/2back) and screwed them down to the new frame. Then used a razor to cut the carpet so they could poke through, and mounted the subs. It's really quite sturdy and cost like $7 and took maybe an hour. I'll get pics of the finished product and post them up later.

Use the cardboard spare tire cover to use as a tracer then cut out a sheet of 1/2" or 3/4" plywood and screw a little bracket into that sheet then into your box. Or screw two hoops into that plywood and use tie downs if you dont want to screw into your box
