I understand that the search function here could be better. But that's what we got for now. Simply put: suck it up. When I see a question that I don't understand or don't have an answer for, I'll research that topic so I learn more. While the search engine here leaves a lot to be desired, I am still able to find what I'm looking for. It isn't rocket science either.
If you don't like taking 15 minutes to sift through a heap of topics to look for your answer then congratulations, you're a lazy person that isn't taking advantage of your freedoms and privileges that you have as an American. While you're still flipping burgers at BK I'll be retired living the life. Why? Because I put out that extra 15 minutes.
I've already said my peace about basic topics being rehashed and degrading the status of this forum.

I know mods are quick to bust out the search, but a lot of the articles are out of date and don't mention brand names and peoples opinions on them. Sometimes it's good to get a fresh thread on exhaust, intakes, wheels etc...although I been around and understand the search.

Its all a matter of people wanting others to do the work for them... or they're just ignorant.

The point of the articles is that they're not brand-specific. You should learn to evaluate a part based on the specs, not the name stuck to the side of it.
And obviously opinions mean jack. If everyone posted their opinions about exhausts, we'd have 1000 threads of "yo i just got my apexi n1 and now my car is so much faster."

I agree Dan, but this site basically has all the info in the world on in the articles and past threads. So why not lock all the threads? And just let people search. Forums are kind of pointless if you don't want interaction and opinions.

Ditto... The search function would be almost useless if all the extra repeat threads weren't deleted. After all, who wants to search through garbage to find what they're looking for. For simple stuff like intakes and exhausts, theres only need for a single thread!
For those of you complaining about new threads being posted since it's easier than searching.... Guess what, try spending the time to type the same response over and over as I have a couple times around here lately... Its a lot easier to post a question than to fully answer one.
Common topics has made the need to answer the same basic questions repeatedly a thing of the past, even though something new will always come up, thats what new topics and the edit functions are for.

The point of [this] forum is to ask common questions or concerns that are then ''stickied,'' which is then later used, as tuan best described it as, a database to share information. The purpose for interaction is to address the more technical questions. It doesn't take a smart person to master this site's search engine and the ability to properly use post thread redirects or what not. As for the different threads, things are not just limited to one thing. That's why when a search comes up with more than one item, it gives you the liberty to learn up on your particular issue and see if a solution is available.
Oh, and one thing, if you can't find something in the search, actually access the forum itself (i.e. Suspension or Wheel Tech. or Forced Induction F.Y.I.) Makes things a lot easier, since most threads take a good bit of time to become stored in the database for search function accessing.
Just use my signature and you'll be fine.

It blows my mind we still get questions like this when we have very informative exhaust articles that talk about everything you ever wanted to know about an exhaust.
Here's a subtle hint....ignore the name on the exhaust.

Would you be able to put the K&N RU2820 filter on a 1999 stock air box and take the old white filter off?
