Dragon Run 2016 Calendar - Android

- WHEN: Officially: the weekend of July 30th and 31st (uggg, Miata weekend), Unofficially: Weds July 27th through July 31st....

Fontana Village
300 Woods Road
Fontana Dam, NC 28733
GPS: 35.4364112 -83.822342
(828) 498-2211
(800) 849-2258

Full map: http://www.fontanavillage.com/maps/v...res-110413.pdf
Closeup map: https://goo.gl/photos/fuTPt7dsrQtbCc1M7

Cabin list if you want to find people (marked in yellow on closeup map, all Wed-Sun unless noted):
- 420 (the big 4 bdrm cabin Fri/Sat only: Fire pit for Fri/Sat is here. Ramzi, SniperJoe, Knave, Paul/Stryder)
- 422 (the Blookies and myself are here. it's the cabin with the wraparound porch next to car wash station)
- 425 (Integra racers!)
- 427 (FL guys, drcheap)
- 429 ("Awesome cabin": Dan, Ami, Lil' Steve, Tony#'s, Paton)
- 433 (Ohio group)

Lodge rooms:
- I've completely lost track of who is coming, but it's a good amount of people (I didn’t need to really worry about headcount and what not for the Lodge reservations, hence I didn’t need to track it). All rooms are either 1 king bed or 2 queens, depending on what you reserved, if you have any question about that, call and double check at the number above! Check-in happens at the front desk of The Lodge.

Two way radios:
- Set your dials for Channel #7

Groceries and supplies:
- Grocery shopping (closest): best/closest is Ingles in Robbinsville NC
- Walmart, car parts, pretty much anything you need: Maryville TN is the place
- There is a “General Store” on site at Fontana for basic needs (ice, some groceries, beer, snacks, laundromat).

Stuff to do:
- Google map with markers: http://bit.ly/ti_dr16_map

"Schedule" (I put this in quotes because you're on vacation, do whatever you please!):
- Wednesday
> Most people are arriving this day, I think check in time is 3pm
> 8:30 pm ish: Fire pit at the hill next to the ball field (#20, there are two of them on map, it's the one on right)

- Thursday
> 7:30am before Dragon is busy: spread Diana's ashes, top of Dragon https://goo.gl/maps/w8khuMmaUoK2
> Late morning: zipline (https://noc.com/trips/mountaintop-zip-line-tour)
> Alternative to zip line: Trip into Pigeon Forge (https://goo.gl/maps/YyX43Sfbn8Q2)

- Friday
> Morning-ish: tubing? (https://www.greatsmokies.com/tubing.php)
> Late afternoon/early evening: Dragon Pit BBQ (http://www.dragonpittinnandbbq.com/wp/)
> Firepit at cabin 420, BEER EXCHANGE! (Bring some local beers for this night! I'm bringing some from this local place her in Central FL)

- Saturday (roads will be busy with lots of Miatas out there!)
> 10am through 5pm Boat rental at Bryson City (http://www.almondboatpark.com/pontoon-rentals.html)
> Meet up at the Wildwood Cafe for dinner

Extra Notes:
- There is very very limited, if any at all, cellular coverage at the Village
- Internet WiFi spots are available at the Lodge, the General Store and the Wildwood Grill
- If you are looking for me for help with anything (Stephen/MorningZ), my car is not making the trip this year (it's still ripped apart), I'll be in my white 4 door F150 at cabin 422.
- Make sure to bring bug spray, mosquitos do rule out there.
- For Thursday morning, it would be a good idea to gather up in as few vehicles as possible to go to the top of the Dragon as parking is limited up there, and that's w/o the fact that there *may* be other people up there already.

Whoooo!... officially planning time. Had my vacation request approved 6 weeks ago. Looking forward to seeing how the new and improved motor holds up to some abuse.

It has begun. It's gonna be a madhouse this year with all the hairdresser's cars. Do we have to share space with the cyclists again, too?

Happy to be coming back.

Also looking forward to trying with LSD

Now to decide which local brewer's beer sampler to bring.

I'm throwing around the idea of making the beer exchange on Thursday night instead of Friday, there will be some important and long time friends of mine still around on Thurs before they leave on Friday, I'd love to have them involved

It's always funny how many IPAS show up, but no one like them except me.

It's not like we'll run out before Friday. We all generally bring enough for the weekend anyway so I don't see why not.

I'm all for Thursday night beer swap. In addition to the reasons above, it saves people having to get up early Saturday morning with a hangover, if we still do Cherohala that day.
