This might be too late in the process or you might have answered this, but did you ever think about putting hinges on the inside of engine hood just like how the front hood is setup. IMO I just think it looks cleaner if the hinges are inside rather than in the back of the engine cover. I don't think you'll have a problem with using a hood strut in the engine compartment, so many cars have hood struts in the engine bay.

btw...everything looks great! can't wait till it's all said and done. It's amazing how far knowledge and motivation can take you. keep up the good work!

All of the body parts are now primed. Iíll be moving the car out today so I can start paint prep on the rest of the parts.

I have a design for concealed hinges, but would also like the hood to be easily removable. Hinges on the inside add to the complexity of this, and to the time until the project is done. We'll see. i might end up with hidden hinges, as you suggest.

its a guide coat. which when sanded will show the low spots in the body. It basically is one of the finishing steps of priming to ensure the body panel is strait.

Thats the guide coat. You usually use black spray paint and spray on to the primer so when your sanding you can see if you have any low are high spots.
