Jojo: I think the maintenance would be a bit harder in terms of labor when the motor is in the back, in fact its a PITA on an MR2, in a lot of cases it might be easier to drop the motor on the MR2, but since the teg has a big hatch, and it seems like the motor has a lot of room back there it might not be as much as a problem.

Dave what ar your thought on the firewall in the rear? I dont know if I missed it in a previous post.

The firewall will be removable panels forming a "box" over the engine compartment. This will also make engine access and maintenance easier.

Thanks,
Dave

Hey Dave. I have to reiterate what so many other members have said on this board. Fantastic work. I really think you should show the finished project to Honda because I always thought that the only thing wrong with the Integra was that it wasn't rear wheel drive. Mid engine? Whoa, blows my mind. I've read this whole thread over a couple of days and I'm fairly sure no-one asked- How do you change the oil on this thing? I'm sure you have some thing worked out for that.

once again sir, I tip my hat to a true feat of engineering prowess. Jesse James eat your heart out!

Are the side intakes just for venting heat in the engine bay to keep the temperatures ambient?

Also, I'm assuming you are mountaing the radiator in the stock location in the front, how is that going to affect the cooling of the engine? The long lines I think would cool the coolant off quite a bit no? Would that allow for the engine to get to full operating temperature?

I am also wondering what you are going to do with the engine bay, make it into a trunk or are you just gonna seal it off?

Post #DC2H22-41

I decided to make NACA submerged ducts for the side scoops.

This is the hole for the right side duct.

Same hole from the inside.

This is a view looking from the inside, (the camera is where the A/C compressor would be) out through the NACA duct hole on the left side.

I’ll have more pics after they’re installed, which I’ll do after finishing the wheel wells.

Actually, the engine can be removed and installed with the hatch in place.

Quote: Gurgus on Aug/23/05 …. How do you change the oil on this thing? ….

Oil changes are the same, you just jack up the rear instead of the front. It will actually be easier with the mid-engine, as access to the oil filter will be from the rear, inside the back instead of from underneath.

Yes, and the one on the right side also feeds the engine air intake.

The radiator is mounted in the stock location. The lines are insulated to keep the heat inside the tubes, away from the body. The thermostat controls the flow rate based on temperature and works the same regardless of where or how the heat is dissipated from the coolant.

The space in the front will be pretty full with the spare tire.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words,
Dave
