WOW! You must have a lot of time on your hands buddy. Its a very interesting project, I am curious to see how the end result looks. If things dont work out at least you can say you mastered the art of welding.
Good luck.

Dave, you are the coolest person I don't know. I never really thought about how much time would go into making the car mid engine, rear wheel drive but wow. I just read all 53 pages and I can't wait to see how this turns out.

ohh yeah, why do you still need the firewall in the front? is it just because it is already there to block out water? or in case of an accident?

Holy shit this is a crazy project. When your all done with this project you should take to a Honda dealer to do a tune up lol . one question though, why didn't you just go with the NSX motor. Is it too heavy or something?

I guess at the time, he probably couldn't get a hold of one to put in, and besides, he had driven an NSX before, he may have wanted to try something different,,

So, anyway Dave, as I dozed off from my last post about your decision on LSD, I have some curiosities/confusion:

Taking into consideration the overall output of the motor, every time I tap rev. it, it always looks like a monster wanting to jump out, lol.. I'd figure from there, the motor mounts must be beefy, for a beefy motor.. so, with a hundred bucks, I decided to snap on a FR- upper tie-bar (a.k. as a strut/''tower'' bar) to stiffen the chassis, since our cars are rather weak 2.2 FF 2/FWD.. I did notice a little more response from the engine, improved handling, and increased initial cornering.. Now I know that does not directly highlight the roll stiffness, since anti-roll bars (along with springs, etc.) generally are constructed to deal with that (as an easy method of addressing [lateral] weight transfer), but I figured to transfer at least partial of the carry load in a turn from the motor already pumping out so much energy, and its location up in front, which does not help on our FWD cars, I could just tie the struts.. and distribute some of the load across.. However, [since] you are closer to the ''50/50'' (wouldn’t 50/50 be sorta pointless since it’s gonna be RWD? I think 42/58 sounds like your best bet, and you’re pretty damn close to it), I was just wondering about the motor, and its ''beastly jumpiness,'' and since it's MR, would you have to consider some sort of RR- upper tie-down, or some form of c-pillar/c-post tie-down to aid in the chassis and suspension around the motor located in the back, or is it not necessary seeing that everything seems to be solid (ha get it, I said a funny pun)? By what means will you counteract the engine torque and thrust load?

on another note, will you be using anti-roll bars? I mean, more specifically, would it be possible to use the ones from the factory on 97-01 models, which are FR- ~25% more stiff than Type-R's, and RR- ~80% more stiff than Type-R's.... or is it possible to get a new aftermarket one (generally thicker). with space permitting or not? (ofcourse you're not going to be able to make it too stiff, reverting it into a beam suspension, you probably have it all calculated, and in simplified explanation, since you are the geometry guru lol)

Thanks, oh and one more thing, I know the manifold on the H22A is actually really good in performance, but ofcourse, why would you want to keep it on there, lol, so the header you are going with, won't be emission-friendly would it? on the site, I think it said track only or yada yada hehe, at least it's legal '>;p big thnks

The firewall is a major contributor to the structure of the car,

Thanks,
Dave

All of the stock Prelude motor mounts are being used in their original locations. Stiffer aftermarket mounts would be a bolt swap.

I'll start out with the original GSR bar in the front and the original Prelude front bar in the rear. I may find that I need a softer rear bar.

Thanks,
Dave

Why not go for an adjustable one? No swapping bars all the time, just dial it in!

Yeah, an adjustable one would be nice.. yeah, our rear bars are tight as heck, and our front ones are not that far from it (it's 24.2 with rear 25.4), yah, softer would be better, so maybe a 99 GS model's or a Progress Tech. one would suffice.. Keep us updated and posted, I feel the test runs and trial stages are coming..!! (if not, some time at least, lol) You can do it, you got T-I behind ya every step!

Post #DC2H22-36

I haven’t been able to find a “camber kit” I like, so I made one.

I need some help identifying the bracket pointed to by the white arrow. I have no idea what they are there for. The brackets (there are 2, one on each side) are inside the rear panel. This view is looking rearward from the inside with the RR tail light holes at the top. What, if anything, bolts to these fairly substantial brackets? Are they used only during manufacturing?

Thanks again for all of your generous support and encouragement!
Dave
