So after the E-brake, whats next on the list? How did you even come up with that shifter mechanism design? Damn you are good!

Thanks for the questions Jeff!

Next on the list are brake, clutch, and vacuum lines. Then I'll do the throttle cable, then cooling tubing. After I'm finished with everything that runs through the tunnel, I'll weld on the top piece from the Prelude and the console area will be done.

The design for the shifter mechanism came from what could be considered an arbitrary constraint I placed on myself, which was to use the stock Prelude shifter and shift cables, including the sealing plate, where the cables pass through the tunnel. The seal plate is incorporated with the cables and cannot be removed non-destructively. It was also important to me to incorporate a "short shifter" functionality. With the engine/trans behind rather than ahead the shifter, the motion had to be reversed to maintain the shift pattern. This mechanism was the result of all of these, and other, constraints, and was the simplest thing I could come up with that I also knew I could manufacture.

damn. you sir are so amazing. i really want to see this thing done. i want to take something and make a hybrid like you and the guy with the h22 del sol. sounds like a really cool project. do you mind telling me how much youve spent thus far?

I was actually wondering about that when I saw those pictures...knowing that the Prelude uses a cable shifter. I see you made it work, so congrats. That's pretty impressive.

The mechanical portion of the E-brake mechanism is done. The handle pulls a rod, which pivots an arm, which pulls a spring, which pulls the cable.




The other end of the cable pulls an arm, with a cross bar pivoted in the center, to keep the force balanced on the two master cylinders.




This view is looking up underneath the tunnel and shows where the cable goes through.


Most of the brake plumbing is done, however I need 2 of the brake line adapters, show below, to finish it. I believe these can be found in the clutch line on every Civic and Integra with a hydraulic clutch. It’s a cast aluminum part with a 10mm female inverted flare on one end and a 12mm female inverted flare on the other. They’re about $15 plus shipping each online, but any help locating a couple of used ones would be greatly appreciated.

is that is a position to where the original Lude console will fit over your shifter and ebrake? or are you not using the OEM console?
