i would be up for traveling JUST to see this project tear it up...great work!

the battery location he chose is probably for a closer to 50/50 weight balance from left side of car to right side when he is driving without a passenger to balance his weight of the driver side. (if he doesnt RHD it)
also, to hide it from theives. Just an assumption, Dave whats the real reason?

Ok I think this is the best project by far I have read about or even come across! I tip my hat to you man and if you every need any parts...just let me know. Also ever think about using the AWS from a Prelude? I have been thinking of doing this to my "Ra". Any way...really man if you need anything let me know. Your a true pioneer!

Post #DC2H22-24 on page 29 talks about the weight distribution and battery location.

Thanks,

Dave may have instigated the greatest TI meet ever. I propose a WEST SIDE roadtrip to see it when it's done. NC isn't too far, only like 897414 miles. Dave, I'd give you a high-five if I could.

I think we should schedule a meet when this project is done. I think everyone should be there for the unveiling of this masterpiece!!!

Dave just wondering if we could see a pic from a lil farther away kinda showing the whole project. Unless that is if you are just building and hyping it up which i would understand. I just kind of want to see the overall progress. Keep up the good work!!!

Yea, I agree. The more pix the merrier. I'd like to see some pictures of your workplace and tools and also the distance photos of the car. Just for good measure. Again, amazing project man!

Post #DC2H22-29

Here are some pics of the shifter mechanism, which consists of a steel plate bolted to the top of the transmission, with levers and shafts, which reverse the cable motion and provide “short shifter” functionality. The first pic is a view looking down at the top of the transmission. You can see the shift cables running forward and down over the starter. The bottom cable (in the photo) selects the gate and is actuated by moving the shifter from side to side. The top cable is the shift cable and selects the gear by moving the shifter forward and back. Each of the cables is connected to an arm, which is bolted to a shaft. The shafts run down through the plate, with arms welded to the bottom, which actuate the select and shift arms on the transmission via heim joints.

This view is looking forward from the rear.

This view is from the front looking rearward. The distributor is in the upper right corner and the starter is in the lower right corner.

I still have to make the cable support brackets, but then I can start on the other end of the cables, getting them inside the car and connected to the shifter. Stay tuned!

Thanks to everyone for your continued support!
Dave
