For those of you who may not have seen them yet, there are some Eibach Meet Recap pics
in the CA forum, which include pics of the “pink plaid schoolgirl skirt so short….” described in the Urbanracer.com
The return trip to NC started early Tuesday morning, with a 767 mile leg to El Paso, and three stops along the way to meet TI members. The first stop was in Phoenix to meet Andrea (chaos_regins_01), Ryan, and their two 5-yr. old boys. We met at Arizona Mills Mall and had a very nice visit.
The next stop was in Tucson to meet Dan (theGSRguy). We met at a Burger King and Dan bought lunch, which was right on time as I was starving. That is also where he took the now famous pictures used in the Autoblog.com
article. Thanks Dan!
It was then on to Los Cruces, NM to meet Stephen (fistandauntilus). Apparently there are two Walmarts with McDonalds’ across the street in Los Cruces, and it took us a while to figure out that we were at opposite locations. A couple of local Honda guys were curious about the car, so I showed it to them while Stephen was making his way over. We had a good time talking cars and such, then it was on to El Paso for the evening.
Wednesday morning it was off to DFW. Greg (tsugsr) organized a mini-meet at Cousin’s Barbecue in Fort Worth with Dwayne (Teggy98), Vincent (Mok3sp33d) and Masood (AfghanIntegra). Greg bought dinner and they gave me a gas card too! They also gave me this Texas T-shirt, which they all signed! Thanks guys!
Pictures from the mini-meet can also be seen here in the TX forum
As I’m leaving for Terrell, Greg asks, “Have you been pulled yet?” Fortunately I had not and replied as such, but somehow had this feeling I had been jinxed. Sure enough, on the way to Terrell, I passed a THP going the other way. He went out of sight over a hill, but then, there he was, coming up behind me fast. I had the cruise set at 74 (9 over), but I didn’t do anything. The lights came on; I pulled over and rolled down the window. The first thing he said was “the reason I pulled you over was that you have a headlight out”. (whew!) I swapped one of the high beam bulbs over (they’re all 9005s) and he gave me a warning ticket, saying it didn’t mean anything and I didn’t need to do anything about it (whew again)!
It was pretty late when I checked in to the motel in Terrell, but I had been wanting to get a picture from above, so I took this one anyway.
The next morning, it was on to Leeds, AL, near Birmingham, with a stop in Shreveport to meet hpracing007’s Uncle David. We met at a casino and he was driving his turbo MR2, so we had a lot in common to talk about. David is great guy and was very nice to buy me tank of gas. Thanks David!
I just can’t thank everyone enough for your support for this project, and especially for this trip. Your extraordinary contributions to this project have been recognized internationally!
