You could try using rubber bushings/washers in line with the metal construction to reduce heat transfer. depends on how it is all connected together, but if it is possible, it should keep the heat isolated in the engine compartment.

There is evidence of both radiation and convection induced softening. The heat is coming from the exhaust system.

Thanks,
Dave

your engine is under the hood cooled by the radiator, it will be cool exactly the same way anyway... plus is not like he sealed off the engine. as for the CAI, i think he can access it as soon as he pop the hood open and open the "CAI door".

dave, for the heat problem, a spray coated ceramic may help diffuse heat and keep the section near the exhaust from hot spotting. i use DGF spray carbon, but more for lubrication and anti-reflection purposes. something similar, and with a tackier carrier, may help your situation. just a suggestion.

-cheers... FROM LoNDoN!!!

Use your ABS piece as a mold and make it out of carbon fiber, you'll lose weight and gain stiffness/temperature resistance

Ceramic Coating, very similar to Powdercoating, is dead on the thign to do. on a turbo DSM having the exhaust Manifold turbine housing, and downpipe, (past the Oil Pan,) lowered my under hood temp by 15% (32-35 degrees,) under full boost at my reference point 6" from the turbo. with my EGT's reading 1650 F, so seeing that I'm not sure what kidn of gain you can expect, but after reading the 1/3rd of this post I haven't read in a while, my brain is slightly jelly.

Post #DC2H22-113

I finally finished the dash end plates. They are made from 1/16 ABS plastic, formed using a heat gun, then covered with carpet.

Cheers!

I wish I could. The only one I know of that would be available will be in my friends ITB Civic at CMP this weekend. Maybe someone at the event will get some footage.

Thanks,
Dave
