It's about $25 a sheet (4'x8') for 1/16" thick and about twice that for 1/8" thick. Aerodynamic underpaneling is exactly what I'm using it for.

Thanks,
Dave
ohhhhhh i've been interested in possibly doing that to my car, i'm definately gonna see what you're gonna do

Post #DC2H22-106

Ive been working on sealing the radiator inlet by making plastic panels to seal inside the bumper and using styrofoam to seal around the sides of the radiator. Im still working on a panel to seal across the top of the radiator cradle.

Cheers!
Dave

Nice. one of the most effective/efficient methods to making your radiator work properly. What material did you use?

**Edit: Okay I see you used plastic...from where? Also Greddy makes an aluminum upper panel if that's what you're looking for? Runs about $70...

... Of course. It wouldn't be there if it did nothing.

nice. interested to see what the drop in temp is.

now you just need to do something similar to this (scroll down) to help get the heat out and maybe reduce lift a little

None at all. I'm just trying to minimize the amount of air coming into the boot.

Thanks,
Dave

Have you thought about what would happen if you were in a head-on collision? With no engine there, I would think the entire front of the car would just crush and the radiator would soon be smashing against the firewall. Any thoughts on this?

Not trying to be a downer, just curious. I know how well you've planned everything else, I would only imagine you would have thought about this as well.

Jeff puts out a good point. I bet that isn't too rigid from impact. Maybe a cross bar that you can remove easily on top as well as one on bottom to help reinforce it. Might stiffen up the cornering too.

Thanks, but I didn't change the thermostat, so the water temp. will remain the same.

I wanted to vent the radiator through the hood, but I had to draw the line somewhere. Otherwise the car would never get finished.

Thanks,
Dave

as he said before the engine is not a stressed peice, so removing it is not decreasing chassis stiffness. I have been in a front end collision in more than one car of substantial force (no i wasnt driving) and it wasnt enough to push the frame into the engine. Besides now he doesnt have an engine there to get pushed through the firewall so i think it might actually be safter without an engine there.
