maybe after his goal is complete, a collection can be put together to help the man build the engine. this man has given so much to TI and TI has given a lot to him(it appears to me), what's a dollar or two from the people who read this thread? many people on this site have donated various items to him to see his project come that much closer to completion. yes i realize he will/may get sponsors because of this, but TI has watched this project from the very start, why not be a part of it for real? remember, my first word was "maybe", meaning it may never happen, he may be happy with what he has.

please, if you forget his goal for this project, go back and read it again. speed is good great grand wonderful, but think about what this man has done from two junked cars...

Post #DC2H22-93

I’ve been working on resolving some suspension issues, starting with adding caster to the front. With only 42% of the weight on the front, more caster is needed for straight-line stability. Increasing positive caster has the benefit of adding to camber gain on the outside wheel and camber loss on the inside wheel in a turn. The down side to adding caster, beyond the oversteer affect and increase in steering effort, is the increase in bump steer associated with tilting the top of the knuckle rearward, which also drops the outer end of the steering arm relative to the steering rack. With the outer tie rod end too low, the affect is to cause the wheel to toe in in bump and out in droop. This makes the car feel “darty” because as you turn the wheel, say to the right, weight transfers to the left side wheels, which compresses the suspension. This causes the left front to turn in more to the right, which compresses the suspension more, etc. etc. Naturally you can compensate with the steering wheel, but the feel is not confidence inspiring because the car is steering in a fashion not dictated by the steering wheel. The cure is to add the ability to adjust the outer tie rod end height. The following pictures show the solution I came up with. It required some fabrication to adapt the stock outer tie rod to the heim joint, but the result is very effective and cost efficient.

Cheers!
Dave

Hey Adrian, that's a very generous offer. The Integra parts I need are 1) the right rear quarter interior plastic panel (it's a large part and will probably be expensive to ship), 2) a passenger grab handle end (the part the bolt goes through), 3) a door handle grab (the plastic piece held by a screw in the door panel), and 4) a front lip.

Steve (MorningZ) sent some TI decals, which will definitely be on the car. The people of TI have been so supportive, I just can't thanks everyone enough!

Regards,
Dave

I did a Google search for "bump steer gauge instructions" and found a bunch of resources on the subject.

Enjoy,
Dave
