Yes, baring anything unforeseen, it will be done by the end of June.

Thanks,
Dave

Post #DC2H22-73

The storms dissipated, it cooled off and dried up, and I decided to go ahead and paint the shell last night. I changed from a medium-slow to a slow reducer because I was having trouble getting the paint to lay down. The poor quality, and dryness of the paint I've done so far, was visible in previous pics. Well, the slow reducer let the paint flow much better. So much better, in fact, that it just kept on flowing, right down the @*#% panels. So now I have these #*!&^%@ nice fat runs to sand out. Painting just isnít my strong suit.

I rolled up the paint booth plastic, just in case I get a wild hair toÖÖ Nah! That ainít happening! Any more painting on this ride will be done professionally.

Iíve noticed a few threads lately dealing with crud on the quarter window rubber. These had a real bad case of it. I used lacquer thinner on a rag, and had to scrub like hell to get the mess off, but it turned out pretty well. I used a small piece of thin sheet metal, slid up under the edge of the rubber, to keep the wet rag off the paint. This was done before I started wet sanding, but there was no damage to the original paint.

Please remember this weekend, those bravest among us who have served, and are now serving, in our armed forces. Play safe and have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Cheers!
Dave

Hmm, one quick question. A while back you posted your shell outside your garage. How did you move it into your garage?

dave your doing a damn nice job on this thing.

when a good idea and someone with the skills, patience, and willingness to get it done right come together, the result is gonna be sick.

and it looks like its turning out amazing. i've seen a couple similar projects but they look like absolute hack jobs compared to this. I guess the difference is they were done by a 19 year old w/ a welder in a month vs. an engineer/former race crew member carefully over many months.

its a hack job vs something i'd buy without a warranty! Props all round! the shell looks like it rolled of the assembly line just like that.

i just hope you have access to a digital camcorder when its done!

and seconds to this:

I think Ive posted a couple times in this thread before, but its time for another. Absolutly amazing! I havnt been around the site alot lately, but when I am I always check on the progress of this piece of automotive art.

I was floored when you made the thread and said what you were planning to do, and I cant say it any better than its simply amazing on how well planned, thought out, and executed this project is.

Amazing car, amazing person.

As I constantly read this thread and think about it, it reminds me of a scene from a movie. It reminds me of the scene in Apollo 13 when they had to make that gadget out of all kinds of random objects inside the space ship. For you, it's integra piece here, prelude piece there, and custom fab'd parts almost everywhere. This project continues to amaze me. Goodluck Git'n-r-done, haha, wow, remind me to never say that again...

I still want to see that shit doing turns. egh don't like the fact that the h22a will be the engine that goes in the back though.

what are your reasons for picking the h22a? was it because of the availability?
