What's up T-I,
So I recently got a digital camera to somewhat upgrade from my IPhone camera but it's already close to its final days! I've been looking around and I'm reading that most people use DSLR Camera's for the very high quality pics, but I want to see which Camera's y'all on t-I are using! What brand would you suggest an why? I need a better camera that will catch every little thing and look like a live picture, but I'm not a photographer lol, just really like the photoshopped high quality pics!

Well Damb, I had a different price tag in mind but I'll have to save up for a lil til I can throw that much on a cam. I found the nex5 for like 650 but I'm not ready to spend that on a cam

you can find nikon d40s for cheap these days. they came out around 2006, and even then they were going for 500 or less. looking up used ones will yield good results. however, SLRs aren't cheap, and i don't think you'll find anything great for less than $300, if that. one tip i can give you from my experience as a photographer for almost eight years now is that you don't want to look for the most megapixels. these days cameras are marketed as having 10-14 megapixels, and that takes you away from the more important aspect of the camera: the sensor. a lot of SLRs have been switching from CCD sensors of old to CMOS sensors. CMOS sensors take higher quality photos, with less shake and grain. find a camera with a large CMOS sensor before looking at quantity of megapixels.

I use a Nikon D90, D7000 and a few assorted lenses and lights.
Adobe Lightroom does my coloring and Photoshop makes physical alterations to photos.

I bought a Canon Rebel T3i a few weeks ago, so far I've been very impressed with it. I took it to a local weekly car meet in town and some members have requested I give them all the full quality photos of their cars...and I'm no pro either.

I'm using the Canon rebel T3i and I love it. Video quality is great but pictures are amazing...if you know how to use it. I just picked up a 50mm 1.8f prime lens that really makes for some great depth of field shots.
Almost raw with the 50mm ![]() Quote:

So for about $300 would it be better to get a D40 or the NEX-3? The NEX-3 looks like it would be a little better due to the better megapixels and more features

Its hard to make a comparison with the NEX cameras. While they're great cameras they feel completely different than DSLR's. Lenses for the NEX are hard to find and it lacks a viewfinder which doesn't feel right. You need it in your hands to see if you like it.
