Is there any way to unscrew off the oil pressure switch (under the intake manifold, near oil filter) without the breaking the hard rubber insulation?
I need to take it out and reattatch the wire that connects to it.

you can use a 12pt socket, whatever size fits that.

channel locks work as well

or go to your local auto parts store and buy a deep oil sending unit socket..specificially designed to the pattern on the unit itself.

The rubber shouldn't be hard. It's supposed to be flexible so you can slide it back and get to the metal nut part.

it might of harden from heat and old age I guess. but when i try to pry it back, it just cracks and rips like dry clay.
